The lambing post! Pretty much the end of the season now, but timey-wimey at will. It's a simple premise: pregnant ewes everywhere, packed lunches, kiddies (and adults) helping out. Night or day. Sun or shower. All that matters is whether you're prepared to lamb solo yet or not.

See Jake. Jake's currently hanging half-out of an apple tree, picking apples for the horses for the Heart kitchens. Maybe there will be fresh apple pie for dessert tonight or tomorrow, providing the kitchen actually gets any of them.

Rainy days are nice, they cool things down and provide a soothing sort of atmosphere. For once, Jake stays inside while it's bad weather; but his chores are all done, the horses bedded down for the night and he and Mojo are just sitting in one of the large chairs, quietly gazing out of the window at the rain's pitter-pattering. The weird one Joker has asked Jake to participate in the upcoming festival, so the horse boy is out in the big paddock with his beautiful Sahara, practicing. Be impressed, folks. Most "horse people" never come close to the level of skill the young savant possesses. {{I know I never would.}} ;)

Jake's having a rough day. First one of the ponies colicked yesterday evening, so he was up all night nursing the poor thing through through a horrible tummyache, and because poor Mojo has been cooped up forever (in puppy time), he's giving the kid a great chase as fast as his little legs can go!
